CDH Awareness Month Trivia – Day 29

Researchers have invented an artificial placenta that will allow Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia patients to be removed at 20 weeks in utero, undergo repair surgeries, and live in the structure while receiving oxygen and nutrition through their umbilical arteries until they can be “delivered” full term. The first human patient will undergo treatment in 2019.
