CDH International welcomes Alabama Ambassador Taylor Miles to the volunteer team! Taylor is a CDH survivor.
Taylor Miles is a RCDH survivor from Tuscaloosa, AL. When she was born, she was taken to Children’s Hospital of Birmingham, AL and was immediately put on ECMO. She was on ECMO for 10 days. At Children’s of AL, Taylor had three hernia repairs and was in the NICU for 3 months. During that time in the hospital, her right lung never developed and has only a partial left lung. She was brought home on a feeding tube for three months and was on oxygen until she was three years old. Taylor was diagnosed with scoliosis when she was two. She has had two spinal fusions to correct the curvature, and today she has 2 Harrington rods in her back.
Taylor graduated from Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, AL with a nursing degree in 2019. Today, she is an ICU nurse at her local hospital. Her goal for 2021 is to move her nursing career to the children’s hospital that saved her and become ECMO certified. Taylor is currently planning a wedding for March 27, 2021 to an emergency department nurse that she met in nursing school.
