Featured CDH International’s Pennsylvania Ambassador is Cate Scharle. She is a mother to CDH survivor Liam.
Cate is a mother of 3 boys, Liam, Gavin and Nolan, from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. She is an 8th grade Special Education Teacher for the last 12 years. Cate enjoys watching Bravo, taking walks with my boys, and reading Reece Witherspoon Book Club books.
Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia was first introduced into her life at her 20-week anatomy scan during her first pregnancy with Liam. The anatomy scan showed Liam’s stomach, spleen and part of his bowel were up through a hole on the left side of his diaphragm. Unsure of what this really meant, Cate did some research. Upon months of researching, she came across the CHERUBS Facebook Support Group and got connected to mothers all over the world who had experienced what she was about to go through. These families gave her so much hope, prayers, and empathy. Cate was so beyond happy to have found this wonderful community who was there for her when her family did not know how to be. Liam is now a healthy and thriving! Cate is honored to be a CDHi Ambassador for all those families out there who need someone to be there for them, when their friends and families do not know how to be.
