Featured CDH International’s Texas Ambassador is Ashley Leonard. Ashley is the mother to CDH survivor Greyson.
Ashley has worked in the beauty industry for the past 12 years as an educator and a hairstylist. Her husband, Madison, is a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force. Ashley and Madison are currently stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. They married in 2015 and were excited to start growing their family. After a year of trying to conceive, they decided to seek help. After enduring six months of testing with not a lot of answers they were finally given the option to try fertility treatments. On the second round of an IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) treatment, Greyson was conceived! As you can imagine they were elated and on cloud nine. Their world was turned upside down four months later when Greyson was diagnosed with CDH during his anatomy ultrasound. Greyson was born at Children’s Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston, TX, and had his first repair surgery when he was seven days old. During his 91 day NICU stay it was recommended that he have the Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) test completed. At 8 weeks old the results confirmed a rare genetic disorder that has less than 200 cases world-wide. Today Greyson is thriving at home and can light up a room with his smile!
