Featured cherub of the week is CDH survivor Allie Reaves. Allie is the daughter of Mellissa and Kevin Reaves. Mellissa had this to share about her precious daughter:
“This is CHERUB Allie. She was born at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN with left sided CDH and was diagnosed at 20 weeks gestation. She was given less than a 50% chance of survival, her stomach, intestines and part of her liver were in her chest causing her heart to be pushed over to the right side. She had surgery at 11 days old and spent almost 6 weeks in the NICU. She has gone through blood transfusions, speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy. She had issues with weight gain and developmental delays. She also had a bowel obstruction caused by malrotation of her intestines at 18 months old. She’s 4 years old now and enjoys her time doing fundraisers to raise awareness for CHERUBS and to help other children in hospitals. She also loves being with her big brother and little brother.”
