The Moore’s currently live in Norwalk, Wisconsin. Kaylene was a high school graduate, a young mom, who was half way through her pregnancy before she finally told others she was expecting. She had went into a normal doctor’s appointment and her world was turned upside down after an ultrasound.
Kaylene shares, “we went in and had an ultrasound done and we got a call a few days later that there were some issues going on that were urgently needed to be talked about. We sat up an appointment and got referred to Mayo in MN. They wanted me to be seen by a specialist. I heard the words CDH at 19, which was not something I was expecting to hear. I don’t think any other young teenager is expecting to hear those words.”
On February 28, 2016, Jeremiah was born. He had a surgery at 8 days old to fix his CDH. He would need a silo and a further surgery to fit everything back to the correct place and sew him back up. “It was a very long experience,” she shares. He spent 92 days in the NICU and Peds Unit recovering from being born with CDH. At 2 1/2 months old he needed a gtube placed.
Jeremiah turned five in February of this year. Last year he was diagnosed with borderline autism, global delay and sensory processing disorder. Despite his hurdles, he continues to overcome and prove the doctors wrong and is a happy child.
Jeremiah’s favorite thing is a finding Nemo blanket and he loves watching Mickey Mouse, Coco Melon, Blippie and Thomas The Train.
Grandma added, “He’s definitely a miracle, that’s for sure. They said he only had a 20% chance for survival when he was first born and here we are five years later. The team can’t believe how far he has come and he is still with us.” Kaylene adds, “back in November 2020 when he was seen, the doctor said, “he has outlived all of his expectations he had ever set for him. This is truly proving medical science can never truly give any legit answer on life expectancy. He has outlived everything I ever said.”
Grandma adds, “he might me tiny, but he is mighty!” Tune in to the CDH Radio Show and hear Kaylene share more about her mighty warrior!
