CDH International is proud to welcome community leader and CDH dad, James Kornegay, to our Executive Board of Directors.
“My wife and I found out we were pregnant with our second child in the spring of 2015. At our normal 20 week ultrasound, our daughter was diagnosed with CDH. We spent the next few weeks researching hospitals, traveling to different doctors, and scheduling appointments. We eventually landed at the children’s hospital in Philadelphia. Our daughter had an in-utero surgery and was born on July 21st. She almost immediately went on ECMO, an extreme support she needed to live. Unfortunately, after eleven days she developed a brain bleed. She passed away when she when she was twelve days old. Her name was Evelyn Ruth.
Professionally I have worked in local schools and non-profits my entire career. I’ve spent the last six years as an assistant principal at two charter schools in North Carolina. During my time in administration, I’ve worked with various fund raisers and local businesses to support our community. I enjoy leading a team of teachers and navigating the dynamic atmosphere that naturally comes when students, teachers, and parents work together in a school. I’m excited to bring my leadership abilities and fundraiser experiences to the CDH International Executive Board!” – James Kornegay, 2020
