CDH International welcomes Christina Bray to our newly created Support Team. Kerri is the mom to CDH Survivor Connor.
Christina Bray lives in Roswell, Georgia just outside of Atlanta. She is originally from North Carolina where she met her husband, Ryan, in veterinary school. They moved to Wisconsin for her husband’s residency and had their daughter Connor. She was born on 8/28/16 with a left sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
At birth, they immediately knew something was wrong because Connor wasn’t crying and not oxygenating well. Doctors and nurses quickly took her to be intubated and x-rays found her hernia. Her hernia was not found on our prenatal ultrasounds. She was transported to American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, about 3 hours after she was born. Connor had surgery to repair her hernia at 10 days old. Eight days later, she developed pleural effusion, so she needed a chest tube which remained in place up until a few days before she was discharged. They spent a total of 6 weeks at American Family Children’s Hospital and the doctors, nurses and staff took amazing care of all of them.
Since being home, Connor has done very well and is the happiest girl. She is their miracle and Ryan and her are so lucky to be the parents of such a strong little girl. They also have a son named Camden who absolutely adores his big sister.
When Christina is not spending time with her family, she is busy working as a veterinarian. They have a loving Beagle named Rivers and two crazy cats named Wilson and Edie at home. She enjoys traveling with her family, running, reading, watching sports and spending time outdoors.
