The Beginning of the World’s Oldest CDH Charity

CDH International was not the first Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia charity – that was Stichting Hernia Diafragmatica in the Netherlands who unfortunately closed down a few years ago.

CDH International isn’t even the first name of our charity. It was founded as “CHERUBS – The Association of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research, Advocacy and Support” in 1995 and Advocacy was changed to Awareness later before we became “CDH International” in 2017.

It started with a newsletter. 2 moms sharing their stories and reaching out to hospitals and other charities to find more families affected by Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia.

Below are some of the newsletters from our first years as a charity. Printed newsletters stopped when membership grew too big and it was too hard to fund printing and postage without charging membership fees. So we moved on-line. Now, we have weekly e-newsletters.
